A dental sealant acts as a barrier to help prevent cavities and protect teeth; it is often applied to molars.
The dental sealant is painted directly onto the tooth. It hardens into a plastic resin that bonds to tooth enamel, filling depressions and grooves, protecting vulnerable areas by sealing out plaque and food. It can also help lessen tooth sensitivity to hot and cold.
Dental sealants hold up well and may last several years before reapplication is needed. During your regular dental visits, Dr. Mohn will check the condition of the sealant and reapply when necessary.
